MORE SPEED AT THE SAME RPM, LOWER SLIP, AND GREATER RANGE ON EVERGLADES 435 WITH QUAD YAMAHA 425 XTO OUTBOARDS
Testing of the Everglades 435 with quad Yamaha 425 XTO outboards showed substantial performance and efficiency gains with the Sharrow Marine 16.17 × 21 propellers compared with the traditional 16.375 × 21 propellers.
The MPH-by-RPM graph shows the Sharrow-equipped boat consistently running faster at the same engine speed, with gains of 2.4–3.1 MPH between 2,500 and 4,500 RPM, corresponding to roughly 8–15% higher speed. At 3,000 RPM, for example, the Sharrow setup produced 23.9 MPH versus 21.2 MPH, a 2.7 MPH/13% advantage.
The efficiency data reinforces this difference. At comparable speeds, the Sharrow propellers delivered 7–18% better MPG, while the range graph shows gains of up to 66 additional miles of range at lower cruising speeds, with meaningful range increases also appearing throughout the primary cruising range.
The propeller-efficiency and slip graphs help explain why. From approximately 2,500 RPM and above, the Sharrow propellers show substantially higher propeller efficiency and lower slip, with efficiency advantages reaching 16% and slip reductions becoming particularly pronounced as RPM increases. At 4,500 RPM, for example, the Sharrow setup shows 6% slip versus 13% with the traditional propellers.
Overall: The test demonstrates that the Sharrow propellers allow the Everglades 435 to convert engine RPM into forward motion more effectively—delivering higher speed at the same RPM, improved fuel economy, greater range, higher propeller efficiency, and significantly reduced slip compared with the traditional propellers.
