Test Drive

Take SHARROW™ for a test drive.

Real on-the-water tests. Same boat, same engines, two propellers. Pick a test, push the throttle, and see and hear what happens. Every conventional blade ends in a tip that sheds a swirling, cavitating vortex. The SHARROW™ loop has no tip to shed one.

+19.7 mphfaster at the same RPM

RPM and boat speeds are real measurements from Sharrow Marine performance reports.

Overhead: both boats at the same RPM, at their measured speeds.
Same RPM. Same start.

Overhead animation: two identical boats leave a start line together at the selected engine RPM. Each moves at the speed measured in this test, so the boat with the SHARROW propeller pulls ahead by the distance shown.

SHARROW™ loop propeller No tip vortices · clean wake

Animation: water passes a SHARROW loop propeller. The flow stays smooth and tightly focused behind the propeller, with no tip vortices, little cavitation and almost no vibration. An optional sound mode plays its quieter, smoother sound.

Conventional propeller Tip-vortex cavitation

Animation: water passes a conventional three-blade propeller. Swirling cavitation vortices trail from the blade tips, bubbles collapse into pressure pulses, and the lower unit shakes with vibration, all growing stronger as throttle increases. An optional sound mode plays the tonal hum that tip cavitation adds at multiples of the blade rate.

RPM and boat speeds are real measurements from Sharrow Marine performance tests. Slip is calculated from those measurements; cavitation is an engineering estimate; the sound is simulated from each test’s RPM, prop speed and boat speed, not recorded; the water animation is a simplified illustration, not a fluid-dynamics simulation. Real-world results vary by boat, motor, load and conditions.

Find a test like your boat.

Each card shows the biggest speed difference at the same RPM in that test, and the prop slip at that point. Tap Test drive this to load it into the simulator.

Speeds and RPM are read from each published report’s MPH-by-RPM chart (one older report only has an advance-rate chart; its speeds are calculated from it). Slip is calculated from those speeds, each prop’s pitch, and the gearcase ratio. All performance reports →
